Endless Documentaries

The categories of documentaries seem endless: nature, sports, investigative, social, political, biographical, historical and true crime. If you want to educate yourself, explore or dive further into a topic, documentaries are a great resource. Here are a few documentaries that were popular in 2025: Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart, I Am A Killer, Our Oceans, Life on our Planet, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, The Perfect Neighbor. I've recently gotten into watching documentaries and feel it is a bit of a rabbit hole; you'll end up watching them more and more! Considering there were approximately 300 released in just 2025, there is plenty to watch and choose from.

My favorite category of documentaries is crime and investigation. Currently, I am watching "I Am A Killer" on Netflix. It starts with an interview with the murderer, and then interviews the investigators, family and friends. It's interesting the details that seem to be left out by the murderer, and you find out later in the documentary from investigators, family and friends. Also, getting to see different investigation strategies. The most eye-opening documentary I watched in 2025 was Hot Coffee. This goes over the incident of the woman who spilled hot coffee in her lap from McDonald's. I had heard about this on the news and in newspapers, but when you watch the documentary, it leaves you in awe. You actually see the burns the woman suffered (horrendous), facts that she was not driving, and the car was in park when the drink spilled. She truly deserved every penny of the lawsuit against McDonald's!
