The unfortunate news of Catherine O'Hara's passing was announced today, January 30, 2026. She was an amazing actor, comedian and screenwriter. Catherine has played roles in many memorable movies and series. She has won 35 awards and earned 82 nominations, which include Emmys and Golden Globes throughout her 50 year career. Did you know that she had a medical condition called dextrocardia? It's rare, but it is when the heart is located on the right side of the chest instead of the left. Born in Canada on March 4, 1954, and passed at her home in Los Angeles, CA, January 30, 2026.
Some of the memorable movies and series that Catherine has had roles in are: Home Alone, Home Alone 2; Lost in New York, Beetlejuice, Schitt's Creek, Six Feet Under, and A Series of Unfortunate Events. Something you may not have realized is that she was the voice of characters in The Nightmare Before Christmas (Sally), Chicken Little (Tina) and Frankenweenie (Gym Teacher). One of my favorite, more recent roles of hers was Moira Rose in Schitt's Creek. The quirky, quick-wit character left me with endless laughter and a fan forever. Also, who doesn't dance to Banana Boat (Day-O), by Harry Belafonte because of the dinner table scene in Beetlejuice?
